Soft GingerBread Cookies

1/2 c. softened butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
3/8 c. molasses
3/8 c. buttermilk (Or sour milk) **
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt.

**Cream butter, brown sugar, egg molassas & sour milk. Sift together flour,
soda, ginger, salt. Add to batter and mix well (makes a very soft batter).
Chill for at least 1 hr. Roll 1/4 thick (only remove a little of batter
from frig, must be firm to be able to work with). Cut out with cutter &
bake at 350 degrees until done. These will be soft. Frost or decorate when
cool if desired.
